Harry Potter... IT'S BACK!!

And with it, is our favourite Potter lady, Miss Watson! Emma Watson can rock any look: dressed up, dressed down... she never fails to look incredable in the latest trends. She is fashion icon for not only Potter's fans but for fashion loving ladies everywhere!

I'm slightly gutted that she only gets to walk down the red carpet once more with her wizardry co-stars!

Trends in a Wheel

Ever sat in a coffee shop, sipping on a skinny latte and wonder how people get so hooked on certain clothes?? Well, now all our questions have been answered in a wheel!! Although I'm still wondering who in Dublin decided leggings with a short T-shirt was a worthy trend....

If it's good enough for Barbie...

While browsing through asos.com's newest lines I stumbled across something quite unexpected...a Barbie Lounge! You guessed it, just picture Mattels iconic blond bombshell rocking out in the hotties LBD's in town. The best part ladies is that you can purchase Barbie looking super stylish and then purchase the same dress for yourself!! Ever dreamed of being Barbie???!!!

A part of me thinks this is one almighty marketing ploy but then the other part of me is wondering when women are going to grow up. Looking at childrens consumer culture we can immediately identify specific feminine ideals that are being emphasised but now these feminine ideals are being brought to life.

Barbie, although I do love her, eludes an unrealistic beauty ideal. Barbie has big breasts, a tiny waist and long thin legs. It is physically impossible to have a body exactly like Barbie’s. If you wana look like Barbie ladies, the average women would have to increase 24 in. in height, 5 in. in the chest, and 3.2 in. in neck length, while decreasing 6 in. in the waist. Your waist would be so small that you'd be crawling around on all fours! LBD not looking so hot right now!!

So Barbie, please give us our dresses back and return to the shelves of Smiths!

All about Boho

By far my all time favourite trend, welcome back boho! Marking the time in the year when we need to ditch the black and grey from our lives and get pretty in pastels! Pretty much anything slightly floral, frilly, denim and lacey has got the tick this season.

One of the best things about this chic trend is that is recessionista friendly. Yes ladies, time to dust off that needle and thread and get down to your local fabric shop! Anything from big wooden buttons, white lace ribbon or even patches of denim (just make sure you avoid looking like a patch work piece form the 90's!) That white flow dress hanging in your wardrobe can be uber trendy in a matter of moments.

Below are few of my favourite pieces to rock this trend for the summer:
  • Boyfriend denim shorts (hit zara or even just cut up a pair of your pop's levis 501's!!)
  • Tan satchel (teamed with tan brogues...dreamy)
  • White maxi dress (lace, lace and more lace please)
  • and finally....a straw hat!

Just look at the queens of boho Miss Bilson and Nicole Richie!!

Alexa Chung Fashion Line

Alexa Chung, this years hottest fashionista, is said to be designing her own clothing line. Sick of the glitz and glam, the straight shoulder look and all the glitter of A/W 09, just wait and see what Alexa has to offer. Going by her own style, we're in for a treat. I'm thinking over sized woolie cardies, polka dots go lor and cute floral designs mirroring the S/S 10 trends. Excited to say the least!!

Classic Trench

Alexa Chung has done it again!! Yes, yes it's back! The classic trench coat is a must have for SS10. Perfect to dress up any outfit. Team yours with a simple black dress, black shoe booties and a statement cross chain like Alexa to look sleak and stylish.

Definitely on my list of must have's for Spring!

Snow, snow and more snow!

So Dublin, along with the rest of Ireland, has been covered by a blanket of snow for the last week. With this snow predicted to last another ten days we can essentially say that the entire month of January will be snow filled. Happy....yes yes yes!

Today while out in the snow I found myself clinging on to my boyfriend for dear life, while he laughed uncontrollably! Now this posed the question, how are we meant to stay safe, maintain our dignity and of course look fashionable while doing so??

Answer: wellies!!

Hit Office for the latest collection of Hunter Wellies, my personal fav are these red tall pair. Don't wana splash out, why not check out Dunnes or Pennys for some bargain footwear. My advice would be, keep em bright! What better to cheer up these dark days then some bright coloured wellie boots!

Brogues and Loafers: Spring Must Have's

As I browsed through my recent mags over the lazy Christmas holidays one trend shot out at me: Brogues! Now I know they have been in fashion circulation during the winter months but, like many others, I tend to prioritise my warmth during the cold months. I couldn't be more delighted that brogues are becoming a trendy phenomenon that will definitely continue long into Spring.

My personal favourite are these tan numbers sported by the funky Peaches G. Just perfect teamed with a long denim shirt and wet look leggings. Very on trend P!
